Five Delicious Winter Soup Recipes to Keep you Warm

On a cold dull day in winters, coffee might not come for your rescue but a hot delicious soup worth drooling over could help you feel better. You would have to keep a count of your number of cups of coffee you had but we bet, you’ll never be worried to track the number of soup bowls you might slurp in.
While the season of soups is almost about to end, let’s relish some of the exotic flavours:
Roasted Cauliflower and turmeric soup
Beat the winter blues by simply making it a part of light lunch. Steam the cauliflower florets until tender. You can serve hot bowls of this soup with roasted cauliflower florets too.
Method: Sprinkle some oil in the pan having cauliflower and toss a little to make sure it is covered. Stir well after adding beans, bell peppers and celery. Meanwhile, boil the peeled turmeric and after a while add the hot vegetable stock to the cooked veggies pan. Later, add strained turmeric stock to the same. Give it a good stir and let it cook on low flame for ten minutes.
Salmon Sweet Potato Soup
Warm up the chilly winter nights with this delicious salmon soup. With the goodness of omega-3 fatty acids and a healthy source of good carbs, this soup is an energy boosting recipe.
Method: In a large pan, heat oil over medium heat. Add onion, carrot and celery; cook and stir until tender or for like 4-5 minutes. Add garlic and add boiled sweet potatoes. Cook covered, on low until sweet potatoes are tender for about an hour or so. Stir in salmon, milk and parsley. Let it cook until fish just begins to flake easily with a fork for about 30-40 minutes.
Tomato Barley soup
A soup perfect to accompany with lunch and dinner can curb your hunger in a healthy way. This soup can be made from leftover tomatoes and you can enhance its taste by adding veggies of your choice.
Method: Heat pan on medium flame and add turnip, onion, carrots, and celery, saute them for a while. Add garlic, barley and blanched tomatoes, barley. Add water, turn the flame to low and bring it to a boil. Keep it covered for about an hour. Add seasonings and garnish with parsley.
Creamy chicken noodle soup
This soup with freshly chopped vegetables and some herbs tastes like heaven. The rich creamy flavour serves the purpose of an evening snack.
Method: In a large pan, add onion and celery and sauté onion until tender. Add parsley, chicken, chicken broth, pepper, thyme and water. Stir until it comes to a boil. Reduce heat to medium to low flame and cook for 20 minutes. Add carrots, peas and stir in some home-made milk cream along with some half cooked noodles. Add salt to taste. Serve the soup hot!
Vegetable lentil soup
Nutritious, flavourful, colourful soup is good enough to enjoy as a part of your brunch meal. This lentil soup is tasty and totally satisfying while being on the light side. Low in fat and rich in protein and fibre, this is the best match your cravings can find.
Method: Cook onion, garlic, celery and carrots until soft in olive oil for about ten minutes and add vegetable broth, bay leaves and soaked lentils. Simmer for 30 minutes and stir occasionally. Add spinach or kale leaves with a pinch of salt. A bit of pepper and other seasonings would do good.
