World Cancer Day- 5 Concoctions that Fight against Cancer

Throughout the life our body keeps on dividing and replacing the healthy cells in a controlled fashion. But when this normal phenomenon alters leading to abnormal or uncontrolled growth of cells, this is when Cancer begins. Most cancers form tumours, but not all tumours are cancerous. A tumour is defined as a mass composed of a cluster of such abnormal cells.
There are two types of tumours. Benign which are non-cancerous that do not spread to the other parts of body. Malignant which are cancerous tumours that crowd out healthy cells, interfere with body functions, and draw nutrients from body tissues. The major types of cancer are carcinoma, sarcoma and lymphoma, and leukaemia.
Cancer is one of those serious diseases which requires proper treatment and intensive chemotherapies. Nowadays natural herbs are quite in fashion to alleviate the symptoms and side effects caused by cancer therapies. Rosemary ginger Tea
Herbs used:
Ginger – Ginger consists of powerful phytochemicals which are plant compounds that have health promoting qualities. Ginger contains gingerols and shogaols which are believed to have anti-inflammatory and anti- cancer properties.
Basil – Holy basil protect our body from toxins and help in preventing cancer by reducing the growth of cancerous cells.
Cardamom – It is believed that cardamom help in preventing cancer. It controls the growth of cancerous cells and tumours in the body.
Rosemary- Rosemary contains rosemarinic acid and caffeic acid are potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agents which protect the damage from free radicals.
Quick Instructions- Take 1 cup of water and add 1 teaspoon of all the herbs. Allow it to simmer for 3-4 minutes. Strain as needed.
Garlicy Cayenne shots
Herbs used:
Garlic – Garlic has anti-cancer properties as it contains allyl sulphur that slows down and prevent the growth of tumour cells. Garlic also contains enzyme called alliinase which further cause damage to the cancer cells.
Cinnamon- Cinnamon is a potent activator of detoxifying enzymes in the colon, protecting against further cancer growth. It acts by reducing the growth of cancer cells and formation of tumours in blood vessels.
Cayenne pepper- Capsaicin is bioactive phytochemical compound found in red and chilli bell peppers. It alters the growth of cancer cells and delays metastasis.
Quick Instructions- Take 1 cup of water and add 1 teaspoon of all the herbs. Allow it to simmer for 4-5 minutes. Strain as needed. You can also add few drops of lemon to enhance flavour.
Soothing Turmeric cumin concoction
Herbs used:
Turmeric – Curcumin present in turmeric inhibits cell proliferation and decrease the expression of enzymes, inflammatory cytokines that cause growth of cancer cells and progression.
Coriander – The antioxidants present in coriander have anti-inflammatory effects and further slower the growth of breast, prostate, lung and colon cancers.
Clove – Clove extracts are believed to reduce the progression of multiple types of human cancer cells. They play beneficial role in the future of cancer treatment since they can cause cancer cell death and slow cell multiplication.
Cumin – Thymoquinone, main active constituent found in cumin seeds is quite effective in treating various chronic diseases including cancer.
Quick Instructions- Take 1 cup of water and add 1 teaspoon of all the herbs. Allow it to simmer for 3-4 minutes. Strain as needed.
Citrus infusion
Herbs used:
Fennel- Fennel seeds have beneficial effects over cancer especially breast cancer. It contains terpenoid anethole which have chemoprotective and estrogenic effects.
Amla – Amla exhibits anticancer properties as it has compounds like gallic acid, ellagic acid and terpenoids which works for prevention & treatment of cancer.
Dill and Thyme- They produce compounds such as glaziovine A and its analogues which inhibit the growth of cancer tumour cells.
Quick Instructions- Take all the herbs and add lukewarm water to it and set aside for few minutes. Do not boil as it will lead to nutrient loss. Strain as needed.
Hibiscus ginseng iced tea
Herbs used:
Ginseng- A herb which have potent anti-cancer and chemo preventive properties. It improves quality of life of cancer patients by reducing chemo related side effects.
Hibiscus and saffron – According to latest researches hibiscus increase cancer cell death in leukaemia and other cancers. Saffron contains carotenoids which protects chemotherapy induced DNA damage.
Quick Instructions- Take 1 cup of water and add 1 teaspoon of all the herbs. Allow it to simmer for 3-4 minutes. Cool it and enjoy.
