Summer is around the corner and some of us are already preparing ourselves for it. People tend to change their diets and skincare routines. While some of us enjoy the cool breeze hitting our faces on a peaceful summer afternoon, others might find it difficult to adjust to the ever-increasing humidity. This weather tends to make you more productive and you go out more often to hang out with your friends. Most people even travel during this time, making the most out of this season. So how can you prepare your body for the summer season? Here are 5 tips to make your body summer-ready:
Eat right and light: Consume more fruits and vegetables. Your diet should contain an appropriate amount of protein, carbohydrates, and fats. Refrain from eating processed foods as they are full of bad carbohydrates that are unhealthy for your body. Stop eating chips, wafers or cookies because they have high levels of sodium that can lead to water retention and bloating. Eat tomatoes, oranges, watermelon, zucchini, yogurt, peaches, strawberries and lots of salad. Make sure you don’t eat excessively. Try taking small portions of food in the day but make sure that you don’t starve yourself. Even though your diet is light, make sure it is fulfilling.
Keep yourself hydrated: You tend to sweat a lot due to the hot and humid temperature. Try incorporating vegetable juices and smoothies in your diet so that you remain hydrated. Increase the water intake and keep sipping from a water bottle to avoid dehydration. Don’t step out of your house in the sun without carrying a water bottle. Keeping your hydrated is essential for the effective functioning of the body.
Start exercising: No matter how fulfilling or healthy your diet is, nothing beats an intense full-body workout. Start your day with a 30 min workout to burn down all those calories. You tend to be more active and energetic during this weather so try to make the most out of it. Exercising will enhance your metabolism and cut down excess belly fat. Practice doing lunges, push-ups, burpees every day and start seeing results in a matter of a few weeks. You can also practice doing yoga for a healthy mind and body.
Cut down your alcohol intake: For you to achieve a healthy and fit summer body, alcohol is a big no. Alcohol adds extra calories to your body and even hampers your overall ability to your desired fitness goals. It slows down your body functioning and disrupts your performance ability. To work out better and get a good night’s sleep, try reducing or cutting down your alcohol intake.
Get quality sleep: Not getting enough sleep contributes to an unhealthy lifestyle. Lack of sleep can interfere in the functioning of your brain and you make faulty decisions. Excessive sleep prompts you to consume snacks, bigger portions and has a negative impact on your body. The intensity of cravings increases and you ten to switch to fatty foods full of bad carbohydrates. Thus, you are at a higher risk of gaining weight. It is necessary to sleep between 6-8 hours every night.
