PM Encourages to Download ‘Aarogya Setu’ App to Assess Vulnerability and Stay Cautious

The government recently launched ‘Aarogya Setu’ App which lets you track if you are near or have been near a Covid-19 infected person. The app will let you do more effectively and appropriately. The app is available on Google Play Store on Android smartphones and App store for iPhones.
The app has been developed by the National Informatics centre which is under Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
Aim of developing the app
With the launch of this app, the PM Modi and its government targets to make people more aware about the spread of cases in India and its necessary precautions to be taken. Currently the toll of infected has crossed 5,000 mark in India.
How does it work?
The app uses smartphone’s GPS system and Bluetooth to provide information and help users in determining if they have been near to a Covid-19 infected person or not. To enable tracking, you will have to switch on your GPS/location and Bluetooth services and keep it on.
The app lets your location get scanned and share your data with government in case you’ve been tested positive for coronavirus or has been in close contact with a person who was tested positive.
The data in the app is encrypted and hence, secure for users to use. The app tracks your location to know if the area you are in or have visited comes under the area of infected persons’ database. The app also uses activated Bluetooth to determine if you have been within 6 feet from an covid-19 infected person.
What does the app provide?
The app provides a feature of chatbot where those who are unwell or are worried about being infected with the novel coronavirus. The app asks a few questions to determine the accurate symptoms of coronavirus. It also keeps you informed about latest information or facilities and updates from healthy ministry along with a few helpline numbers that could be important for everyone to know and are active state-wise and nationally.

The app supports 11 languages and once downloaded from App Store/Play store, you need to register your mobile number. Your health stats and other details can be entered in the app. Staying home safe and indoors could be a big help in keeping all of us safe and healthy.
