Sattu: A Refreshing Cooler for Summer

With the hot and humid breeze, blazing and irritating sunlight, the season of summer is here! Summers brings the joy of frothy shakes, creamy ice-creams and sugary drinks that can make you cool and taste appealing to your buds but can take a toll on your overall health and well-being. But here is this one traditional food staple which is known as sattu that can instantly cool and refresh you during the summertime without compromising your health. Sattu is prepared by roasting and blending black chana in a fine powder and it is packed with essential nutrients like calcium, fibre, protein, carbs, iron, vitamins and minerals that can save you from various health ailments along with giving you cool and refreshing senses. 

 

Here are some benefits of sattu. 

 

  • Boost energy levels: The blazing heat of the sun during summers can easily make you tired by draining your energy levels. Sattu or sattu sharbat is a natural cooler and is filled with great nutrients that can hydrate you while boosting your energy levels.

For preparing sattu powder- roast some black chana, take a blender and blend it until a fine and smooth powder is obtained.

 

For preparing the sattu sharbat- take a glass of chilled water and add 2 teaspoons of sattu powder in it, mix it well and then add roasted cumin seeds, salt and black pepper in it. Squeeze in some fresh lemon juice and its ready! Serve chilled and garnish it with some mint leaves.
