Mix Seeds Chikki is a nutritious and energy-boosting snack that combines a variety of seeds with the natural sweetness of jaggery. This healthy treat is not only delicious but also packed with protein, fiber, and healthy fats. Perfect as a quick snack or a post-workout boost, it offers a delightful crunch and satisfying flavor.
For a Serving Size of Two:
Ingredients:
- 60 grams mixed seeds (pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, and flaxseeds)
- 40 grams jaggery
- 1 tablespoon ghee
- 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
- A pinch of salt
Procedure:
- Line a baking tray or a flat surface with parchment paper or lightly grease it with ghee.
- In a dry pan over medium heat, lightly toast the mixed seeds for about 3-4 minutes until they are fragrant. Stir frequently to prevent burning. Remove from heat and set aside.
- In the same pan, add ghee and jaggery. Stir continuously on low heat until the jaggery melts completely and forms a syrup. This should take about 3-5 minutes. To check if it’s ready, drop a small amount of the syrup into cold water; it should form a soft ball.
- Once the jaggery is melted, add the toasted seeds, cardamom powder, and a pinch of salt to the pan. Mix well until the seeds are evenly coated with the jaggery syrup.
- Pour the mixture onto the prepared tray. Use a rolling pin (or a flat surface) to flatten it to your desired thickness. Allow it to cool for a few minutes, then cut into squares or bars while still warm.
- Let the chikki cool completely at room temperature. Once hardened, store it in an airtight container.
