Peas and Tomato Poha

Peas and Tomato Poha is a light and flavorful dish made from poha, vibrant green peas, juicy tomatoes, and aromatic spices. This dish is a popular breakfast or snack option in India, known for its quick preparation and delicious taste. It’s a balanced, healthy meal that can be enjoyed on its own or with a side of yogurt.

For a Serving Size of Two:

Ingredients:

  • 60 grams poha
  • 30 grams green peas
  • 50 grams chopped tomatoes
  • 30 grams finely chopped onion
  • 1-2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 5-6 curry leaves
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon peanuts
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Procedure:

  • Rinse the poha in cold water until it softens but remains intact. Drain the water completely and set aside. Sprinkle a little salt and turmeric powder on the poha and gently mix.
  • Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and curry leaves. Let them splutter. Add all the chopped vegetables and saute them under they become tender.
  • Add the softened poha to the pan with the cooked vegetables. Gently mix everything together, making sure the poha is well coated with the spices and vegetables and let it cook.
  • Turn off the heat and add the lemon juice. Mix well. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and peanuts. Serve hot with a side of yogurt or as it is.
