This diet has more good fats in it like olive oil, nuts and seeds which are rich in monounsaturated fatty acids which help reduce the level of total cholesterol, low-density lipoproteins, triglycerides, as well as preventing systemic inflammation.

Longevity. 

According to studies, people who follow a Mediterranean diet are at midlife are 46% more likely to live longer without any chronic illness and or impaired physical and mental health and cognitive function.

Increases muscle strength. 

Due to it’s variant nutrients, this diet helps in protecting the muscle from damage, hence increasing the strength of the muscle and providing higher agility. It is also found to improve brain functions, leading to improved memory and learning, thinking abilities, and concentration power.

Helps in controlling blood sugar. 

The fibre content in the Mediterranean diet helps in controlling the blood glucose level by reducing its absorption rate. This further helps in reducing the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Also, a fibre-rich diet takes longer to digest which also helps in maintaining weight
