The tropical climate in goa is well known by everyone, and has tremendously influenced the cuisine of Goa making Goan food intense in spices and flavours. The staple food of Goa is curry fish and rice. The most commonly used ingredients in many Goan dishes are meat, fish, rice, coconut and local spices like kokum is also used. Did you know? - Shark Ambot Tik
Shark Ambot Tik is a Goan food but is influenced by Portuguese food. The term ‘Ambot’ means sour and ‘tik’ means spicy. This dish also uses Kashmiri red chillies to add spice to the dish and Kokum (Garcinia indica) is used to make the dish ta - Sorak
A simple vegetarian curry dish which is especially made during the monsoon season in Goa is Sorak. This curry consists of spicy masala with tomatoes and onions. Sorak can be best savoured with dry fish or hot steaming rice. - Kulkul
Kulkul is sweet made up of semolina and maida which is a traditional Christmas sweet. The dough is rolled into a small “rolled butter” like shapes and deep-fried. Then they are put in sugar syrup. - Bebinca
Bebinca is considered to be one of the most loved and famous desserts of Goa. It is a multilayered cake that is made up of flour,eggs, sugar, and coconut milk. It is the famous Goan version of pancakes. The batter is poured into the non-stick pan and backed layer by layer before lining it. The dish uses caramelised sugar and not just normal sugar giving the dessert a rich savoury flavour.
