Winter is here and so is the season of chills, dryness and laziness. Most of us just want to sit and relax in our warm houses covered in softness of warm blankets and sipping on a hot tea or coffee along with munching snacks. This is the time when most of us lose track and fall for uncontrollable and unbalanced dietary patterns. Due to these winter chills rather than going to the gyms or parks for any physical activity of the body, all of us prefer staying indoors within our cozy homes. This weather could become the reason for unnecessary gain in weight as well, but you need not worry since here we bring to you few of the quick tips on how to stay fit and active without going to the gym this winter season.
- One hour of a physical hustle is essential- In the genre of sitting jobs and least labor intense work schedules, a rule should be made to take out at least an hour from these 24 hours in a day for a physical activity. A physical hustle is very essential for your body to get your body toned and active during lazy winter weather. Also this physical activity provides warmth to your body.
- A Good breakfast- to start your day with – It is always said that the first meal of the day should be highly nutritious, therefore one must always have a good and fulfilling breakfast to keep yourself fueled and full of energy throughout the day. The best options to choose from are eggs or a sandwich or a bowl filled with wheat flakes with hot milk and seeds.
- Make sure to stay hydrated: Water intake becomes very low during the winter season. One must always remember that water is crucial for our body as well as for our survival and also your brain also often perceives dehydration as hunger and thereby indulging you to eat more than essential. Make sure to try to stay hydrated by consuming a minimum 2-3 liters of water in a day to keep unnecessary hunger pangs at bay and to stay fresh, active and exfoliated alongside.
- Eat Smart and healthy: Winter chills invite lots of laziness alongside , which means that you can sit easily of your couches and keep munching upon those chips, namkeens or chocolates. All these food items are very high in salt and sugar content which can lead to lots and lots of weight gain , thus rather than munching upon these unhealthy snacks , one must opt for healthier snacking options like roasted makhana, saute vegetables, nuts and seeds.
- Include more warm foods in your diet- During winters our body needs warmth from inside out , so it is essential to consume more of foods which are warm in nature which means that have high calorific value like nuts, seeds, turmeric, carom seeds, jaggery and many more.
- Rainbow of good health – winter season is the season of numerous vegetables of different colors, thus one should target for at least 5-6 servings of Different colored fruits and vegetables in a day. Since different colors provide you with different vitamins and minerals, for example fruits or vegetables of red, orange and yellow color are highly rich in vitamin A content. Most of the green colored vegetables and fruits are rich in iron and vitamin C content. Therefore by adding colors to your life and most importantly to your plate to make your meal a healthy one.
