A heart-healthy lifestyle includes being physically active, eating healthy foods, and staying at a healthy weight. This prevents and helps a person from heart attack and strokes. As we all know, the heart is one of the most crucial parts of our body. But there are several reasons due to which a person can feel discomfort. A healthy heart compromises a well-balanced and healthy diet. Proper diet pattern helps in reducing the risk of heart diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, and hypertension.
Here are some easy ways to keep your heart healthy and safe.
- Be physically active: One of the most important points is to stay physically active. That can be achieved by exercising regularly as the pumping power of your heart enhances which helps in the increased circulation of blood inside the body. It helps to lower cholesterol levels, blood pressure levels, and weight. It also helps in de-stressing the mind and fuelling up the energy levels. it is not important to become a marathon runner to get all of the benefits of physical activity. Activities such as brisk walk, running, or yoga can all be included in the daily routine.
- Include healthy fats in the diet: Adding good fats to the diet is very crucial and it helps in energizing the body, protects the organs from damage, greases your joints, and helps your body absorb various essential nutrients. Nuts and seeds, fatty fishes, avocados, almond oil, olive oil, and sunflower oil are all rich in good fats.
- Incorporate whole grains in your diet: Whole grains are loaded with essential nutrients including protein, fiber, vitamins, antioxidants, and other trace minerals. When you include these in the diet, the chances of developing a chronic illness also decreases. One can include quinoa, oats, popcorn, brown rice, buckwheat, or sorghum.
- Get enough sleep. Getting enough sleep is an essential part of keeping the heart-healthy. Sleeping too little causes troubles in underlying health conditions and biological processes such as blood pressure and inflammation. Hence, one must make it a point to sleep for at least 7-8 hours each night.
- Add more portions of fruits and veggies: Fruits and veggies are filled with essential vitamins and minerals that can help in re-fuelling your energy levels. Snack on vegetables or fruits in between meals. Make a conscious effort to include fruits and vegetables in your daily meals. Swapping unhealthy foods with healthy fruits are a great way of adding fiber and other nutrients that help in lowering the risk of various heart diseases and helps in maintaining healthy cholesterol levels.
- Manage stress: Managing stress can help in preventing some serious health problems like heart disease, depression, and high blood pressure. Deep breathing and meditation are good ways to relax and manage stress.
