Paneer Quinoa cutlets

Paneer Quinoa Cutlet is a delicious and nutritious snack or appetizer that combines the goodness of protein-rich paneer and quinoa with flavorful spices. These cutlets are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, making them perfect for any occasion.

For a Serving Size of Two:

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (90 grams) quinoa, rinsed and cooked
  • 100 grams paneer (Indian cottage cheese), grated
  • 1 small potato (about 100 grams), boiled and mashed
  • 1 small onion (about 50 grams), finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh coriander, chopped
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/4 teaspoon red chili powder (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for shallow frying)

Procedure:

  • Cook the quinoa as per package instructions. Drain any excess water and let it cool.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked quinoa, grated paneer, mashed potato, chopped onion, green chili, cumin powder, garam masala, red chili powder, fresh coriander, and salt.
  • Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly distributed and the mixture holds together.
  • Divide the mixture into small portions and shape them into round or oval cutlets, about the size of your palm.
  • Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat.
  • Place the cutlets in the pan and shallow fry for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crisp. Cook in batches if necessary, adding a little more oil as needed.

Nutritional Benefits:

  • Paneer quinoa cutlets are a healthy fusion of two powerful ingredients. Paneer is an excellent source of protein and calcium, contributing to muscle health and strong bones. Quinoa is a complete protein, providing all nine essential amino acids, making it ideal for vegetarians.
  • It is also rich in fiber, aiding digestion and promoting a feeling of fullness. The addition of mashed potatoes gives a carbohydrate boost, while spices like cumin and garam masala offer antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits. Shallow frying with olive oil ensures minimal use of fat while still achieving a crispy texture.
