This Strawberry Chia Jam is a quick and healthy alternative to traditional jams. Made with fresh strawberries and natural ingredients, it’s not only delicious but also packed with nutrients. Chia seeds provide a delightful texture while boosting the fiber content, making it a perfect topping for toast, pancakes, or yogurt.
For a Serving Size of Two:
Ingredients:
- 200 grams fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped
- 2 tablespoons chia seeds (approximately 30 grams)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Procedure:
- In a saucepan, add the chopped strawberries and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally until the strawberries start to break down and release their juices.
- Use a fork or potato masher to mash the strawberries to your desired consistency (smooth or chunky).
- Stir in the chia seeds and mix well. If using, add the honey and vanilla extract.
- Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for an additional 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally. The chia seeds will absorb the liquid and help thicken the jam.
- Remove from heat and let the jam cool. Transfer it to a clean jar and refrigerate. It can be stored in the fridge for up to 1 week.
Nutritional Benefits:
- Strawberries are an excellent source of vitamin C, antioxidants, and dietary fiber, which support immune health and aid in digestion. Chia seeds are nutrient-dense, high in omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, and protein, promoting heart health and satiety.
- This jam is free from preservatives, making it a wholesome option for those looking to enjoy a sweet spread without the guilt.
- Additionally, the combination of strawberries and chia seeds offers a satisfying treat that can help balance blood sugar levels, making it suitable for various dietary needs.
