As winters are approaching, we need to make sure we are ready for the season. Like stocking up on warm clothes and a lot of moisturizers, but most importantly making sure we drink more fluids and eat a healthier and winter-appropriate diet, to strengthen our immune system and fight off seasonal flu and infections that come with the weather, therefore here are some suggestions of seasonal foods and fruits that have with nutrients, and will give a boost to your immunity system this winter-

  1. Bajra
    As we all know, all kinds of whole grains should be a must for our diet and can all the time. The season change is insignificant when it comes to the consumption of whole grains. Bajra is a specific suggestion for winters. When not consuming other types of grains. Bajra helps in keeping us warm during the cold season. It has dietary fiber, plant protein, vitamins, antioxidants, and healthy fatty acids. Therefore, it is a good suggestion.
  2. Beetroot
    The vibrant root vegetable with a sweet taste has a high quantity of dietary fiber, protein, vitamin C, natural sugar, vitamin B9, iron, and potassium. It also has high levels of antioxidants like betanin, nitrates, and violaxanthin.
  3. Bell peppers
    Getting loaded on all kinds of capsicums, red, yellow, and orange, and the green ones can be beneficial as they are full of vitamins B6 and K1. They have a list of minerals present in them and antioxidants. They also have potassium, folate, capsanthin, fiber, quercetin, lutein, and luteolin.
  4. Ghee
    It is not just a tasty ingredient for your food. It also consists of ghrita, which according to Ayurveda, is the elixir of life. It is known to reduce any kind of inflammation. Boosts digestion, enhances memory and is great for the immune system. It is necessary to keep in mind to consume unadulterated, good-quality ghee for the same.
  5. Broccoli
    Vegetables like broccoli and cauliflower which belong to the cruciferous category are known to be loaded with fiber, protein, iron, manganese, potassium, and most importantly carotenoids, and quercetin. Broccoli helps strengthen the immunity system and also improves blood circulation and cholesterol levels. A great tip for better health is to boil the broccoli for five minutes to kill microbes before cooking.
  6. Walnuts
    Although walnuts are available throughout the year, preferably should be consumed during the winters since it’s packed with fatty acids, proteins, vitamins E and B6, copper, manganese catechin, melatonin, phytic acid, and phosphorus. It helps keep the body warm.
