India celebrates Farmer’s day every year on December 23rd. This day is celebrated in honour of the birthday of the 5th Prime minister of India, Choudhary Charan Singh who introduced many policies to improve the lives of Indian farmers. He was also a farmer’s leader back in the time.
Vegetables are the new gold and farmers are our heroes working tremendously day and night without taking any off while looking after their farm produce. They are the backbone of our country without whom our survival is not possible. They are the ones who work around the clock and the year to ensure that people don’t starve and die of hunger but many times they themselves struggle for 2 meals a day. Yes! Therefore, to create awareness among the individuals to help and reward farmers for their contribution to society, Farmers day is celebrated every year.
In India, the majority of the population has farming as an occupation and main source of income. However, despite being the most prominent means of life for so many people, not many are aware of the problems that farmers have to face. People have no idea what all goes behind the super quality vegetables they receive in the market. People often remain ignorant and least bothered about the necessary information about this sector of the country. Therefore, celebration goes on educating people about these issues, and also focuses on empowering the farmers themselves with the latest learnings of the agricultural sector and rewarding them with the respect on this day.
The amount of time and sweat farmers put in work is remarkable and needs to be celebrated. We should be thankful for their selfless act of love and care for the people of their country. As it is a popular saying which says ‘Agriculture is the most healthful, most useful, and most noble employment of a man’.
A country cannot prosper without efficient agriculture movement. Farmers are the backbone of every progressing and flourishing nation. Agriculture has grown and advanced over the years with new advancements every other year. It’s time for us to thank the farmers from the bottom of our hearts for serving so much for the country.
Over to you:
Let’s celebrate this day by applauding the real-life superheroes for their tremendous hard work and contributions to the country. Farmers are the true heroes who work day and night for the high-quality food we eat. Show them the well-deserved respect and honour on this remarkable day.
