For a Serving Size of Two:
Ingredients:
- 80 grams whole wheat flour
- 50 grams boiled chana dal
- 30 grams finely chopped onion
- 10 grams finely chopped green chilies
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 1 teaspoon coriander leaves, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt to taste
- 2 teaspoons ghee or oil for cooking
Procedure:
- In a bowl, mix whole wheat flour with a pinch of salt and enough water to make a soft dough. Knead well and set aside.
- In a pan, heat a teaspoon of oil and add cumin seeds. Once they crackle, add chopped onions, ginger, and green chilies. Sauté until the onions turn golden. Add boiled chana dal, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt. Mash the dal slightly while stirring, and cook until well-mixed. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool.
- Divide the dough into equal-sized balls. Roll out one ball into a small disc, place a portion of the dal mixture in the center, and fold the dough around it. Gently roll the stuffed dough into a flat round paratha.
- Heat a tawa or skillet and cook the paratha on both sides with a little ghee or oil until golden brown and crispy.
- Serve hot with yogurt, pickle, or a chutney of your choice.
