All of us are constantly working to accomplish our desired goals and ambitions. Among the workload and stress of our own lives, we are also responsible to ensure that our family is healthy and fit. Everyone wants a positive and happy environment in our homes and one way of achieving it by maintaining good health. Even if one person in the family falls ill, the entire family takes up the charge of treating and helping the sick member. Therefore, building a healthy family is a necessity.
Working towards maintaining a healthy eating habit and sticking to a fitness regime demands efforts and commitment. Often, individuals succumb to the pressure and skip or cheat their diets. When you work together as a family, the task becomes easier. You look around to see that your loved ones are committed to their regimes and this gives you a sense of growing with them as a team. The whole family strives to attain a certain goal and encourages each other to achieve it.
When the family supports and commits to a goal together, they push each other to stay healthy. To ensure that your family remains fit and healthy, you need to make sure that each member is heard and respected.
Here are 7 ways in which you and your family can keep a track of each other’s health and fitness:
- Play games together: Go out in the park or garden in the evening to play different sports that you all enjoy. Play in teams to build qualities such as team spirit and sportsmanship.
- Divide household chores for better results: One person carrying out all the chores will feel strained and tired. Distribute the work amongst yourselves and keep switching it weekly.
- Design a healthy weekly diet plan: Sit down together and analyze each other’s food preferences. Create a food chart that will be followed throughout the week. Take charge of who can cook what and try to make the food as healthy as possible.
- Weekends are for workouts: Matching your schedules with everyone on weekends can be challenging. Take out time on weekends to go for morning walks or simply come up with an at-home workout regime that all of you do together.
- Dance face-offs: Turn up the music and dance it out. Pair up in teams and host a dance face-off. Dancing can lift your mood and release happy hormones. Try doing this once or twice a week.
- Use a bicycle or walk your way for grocery shopping: Ditch your cars and bikes for short trips around the block. Encourage your kids to walk or drive bicycles when you go out to buy vegetables and groceries.
- Shop and eat healthy: Pay attention to what you add to your shopping carts. Switch carbonated drinks with homemade vegetable juice and try out healthy and fun recipes for evening snacks. Instead of buying a packet of chips, eat yogurt with berries or seeds and oatmeal with fruits.

Communicate with your family about their needs and tell them about the importance of staying healthy. Kids might take a hard time following diet and workout plans but when they see you working, they start working too.
