Delightful Crunchy Crackers are a wholesome and satisfying snack made from a blend of whole wheat flour, oat flour, and flaxseed meal. These crackers are enhanced with sesame seeds for extra crunch and can be flavored with dried herbs for a touch of gourmet. Baked to a crisp golden brown, they make a perfect addition to your snack repertoire, offering a nutritious alternative to store-bought options.
For a Serving Size of Two:
Ingredients:
- 30 grams whole wheat flour
- 15 grams oat flour
- 10 grams flaxseed meal
- 8 grams sesame seeds
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- 30 ml water (adjust as needed)
- 1/2 teaspoon dried herbs (optional, e.g., rosemary or thyme)
Procedure:
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, oat flour, flaxseed meal, sesame seeds, baking powder, and salt. Mix well. - Add the olive oil and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Gradually add water, a little at a time, until a dough forms. It should be smooth but not sticky. - Place the dough between two sheets of parchment paper. Roll it out to about 1/8-inch thickness.
- Remove the top parchment paper and cut the dough into desired shapes using a knife or a cookie cutter.
- Transfer the cut dough to the prepared baking sheet. If using, sprinkle the dried herbs over the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crackers are golden brown and crisp.
- Let the crackers cool completely on a wire rack before serving. Store in an airtight container to keep them crunchy.
