Do you often get sick or catch flu or cold frequently?
Getting sick frequently is not only frustrating but also a sign of weakened immunity. A strong immunity shields you from the attack of harmful viruses and bacteria and hence you won’t get sick frequently but a weak immunity can easily hamper your well-being by taking you close to various health hazards. Immunocompromised is a term that is often used to describe a weakened immune system or an immune system that is not working properly. Various lifestyle factors like excessive smoking, consumption of alcohol, stress, bad diet, anxiety can easily hamper your immunity. But if you wonder about how you can access the well-being of your immunity, here are 5 signs that can help you out.
- Cold and flu are your constant: Falling sick easily and frequently is one of the most common signs of weak immunity. A weak immunity does not shield you from harmful viruses and bacteria and therefore lead to frequent illnesses. As per the health experts, “catching a cold more than three times a year and taking a long time to recover from it is an indicator of a weakened immunity.”
- Stomach issues: It is said that a big part of our immune system resides in our gut. Even a slight imbalance in the gut bacteria can take you closer to various infectious diseases. Digestion is also dependent upon your gut bacteria and hence if you are frequently suffering from gas, bloating, constipation and diarrhoea, then your immune system is weak and you have to start boosting your gut flora by incorporating immunity-boosting foods into your diet.
- Low on energy: Feeling tired and exhausted even after a night of sleep is not normal and if you often feel drained and fatigued after a good night sleep then your immune system lacks strength. A compromised immune response drains out all your energy levels while making you tired throughout the day. In case you are constantly out of energy, make sure to go and get your status of immune response checked.
- A lot of stress: If you always remain stressed, then it might be a sign of a weak immune system. Getting all stressed, sweaty and panicky about things is a significant sign of weakened immunity. Long term stress can easily decrease the white blood cells in your body which affects your immunity, making it weaker. Do include citrusy or Vitamin C rich food items in your diet to get proper nutrition and to enhance your immunity.
- The healing process is quite slow: Slow healing process is often a sign of various underlying health conditions. When you suffer from an injury, say, a cut or a burn, your skin cells come together to provide healing. This process only starts if you have effective and strong immune cells. If your healing process is slow, then it might be a sign of compromised immunity.
