There exist several guidelines, laws and behaviors when it comes to being conscious about the environment. Being conscious about the environment can mean different to every person. Over last few years, the push and need for people to be more environmentally conscious has grown.
Being conscious of the environment simply means adopting a lifestyle that is better for the environment.
While government trying their best to spread awareness by painting slogans on walls like ‘Clean Delhi, Green Delhi’, a large number of population is still unaware about the importance of taking care of environment and do not know the buzz words like ‘eco-friendly’ or ‘biodegradable’.
Some tips which can help you become eco-conscious or environment conscious:
- Use more e-calendars or calendars on phone: Many people who depend on post-it notes, paper to-do lists or calendars. If possible, utilize the calendar on your phone and download a to-do list app. Reducing the amount of paper you use helps significantly.
- Prevent littering: One of the ways to keep the environment and surrounding clean around you is to stop people from littering on roads. Instead, educate them to put garbage in trash bin or dustbins.
- Shop smartly: There is a need for us to buy home appliances, machines and devices more consciously. Look for energy ratings and stars to increase efficiency and choose alternative energy options like solar heaters.
- Reduce the font size before printing: Decrease the font to 11 before printing and switching from normal page margins to narrow margins can allow you to print the same information in less numbers of pages.

To begin is to understand the basics of what each part of life can do to become more environmentally friendly. The next step is to begin to learn to make different choices on a personal level like consumption of resources that will affect the environment. The changes are surprisingly easy to make, there are more ways than you can imagine about how to begin to practice conservation.
