There will be times when you’ll go bonker about those mouth-watering dishes but unfortunately you might have to control your taste buds for a few months because the food you eat is what your baby eats, even a small mistake can affect the health of your child directly.
There are certain advisable foods that need to be avoided during pregnancy. But, most often, you will get conflicting advice, and you will not know whom to believe. Fish contains Omega 3 fatty acids, if you are a fish lover and cannot do without it, go for freshwater and clean fish which has a low amount of mercy like tilapia, salmon and shrimps. Also, avoid undercooked food like sushi.
Brinjal or eggplant is a common vegetable eaten in almost all Indian households. It is considered to be fundamental in treating premenstrual and amenorrhea disorder. It is advisable not to eat eggplant amid pregnancy. However, having them in little quantity once in a while won’t cause any harm.
Calcium is really important especially when you are pregnant but it should be pasteurized. Slightly boiled milk not only kills germs but also prevents disease-causing microbes which may be harmful to the growth of the child.
Fruits like papaya, grapes and pineapple are said to be an excellent source of vitamins and other nutrients. But can be unsuitable for some pregnant women especially if heartburn is an issue. In contrast, few pregnant women find papaya to be effective in reducing heartburn.
Unripe and raw papaya contains latex, which can cause uterine contractions. It is said that pineapple can get your body heated up rapidly which can cause premature birth or abortion. Grapes contain a compound called Resveratrol that can pose many difficulties by unbalancing the hormones of a pregnant lady. But eating little amounts of these fruits won’t cause any harm.
Stay away from these refined flour products like pizza, cookies pita, pasta, noodles, bread and so forth. Also, maintain distance from ready-made and packaged food items like chutneys, pickles, sauces as they have chemicals and preservatives to build their time span of usability which may affect the growing child.
