  1. National Nutrition Mission (NNM): The National Nutrition Mission, also known as POSHAN Abhiyaan, is a government-led initiative to address malnutrition and improve nutritional outcomes for women and children. It focuses on targeted interventions, such as providing nutritious food, healthcare services, and behavior change communication to promote optimal nutrition practices. The NNM emphasizes the convergence of various programs and sectors to ensure a comprehensive approach toward nutrition.

 

  1. National Food Security Mission (NFSM): The National Food Security Mission aims to increase the production and productivity of food crops, particularly rice, wheat, and pulses. It supports farmers through various means, including technological interventions, inputs like seeds and fertilizers, and extension services. By enhancing agricultural productivity, the NFSM aims to increase food availability and improve food security in the country.



  1. Zero Hunger Programme: The Zero Hunger Programme, known as the Antyodaya Anna Yojana, is a government initiative to eradicate extreme hunger and poverty. It focuses on ensuring access to food for the poorest of the poor through targeted schemes such as creating community kitchens, universalizing the Public Distribution System (PDS), and social welfare programs. The Zero Hunger Programme aims to provide nutritious meals to marginalized sections of society and uplift them out of hunger and poverty.



  1. Eat Right India Movement: The Eat Right India Movement is a public health initiative promoting safe and healthy food practices nationwide. It aims to create awareness about balanced diets, food safety, and sustainable food consumption. The movement emphasizes the importance of proper labeling, reducing food wastage, promoting locally sourced and traditional foods, and encouraging physical activity. By promoting healthier eating habits, the movement aims to improve the overall nutritional status of the population.




  1. Efforts towards Food Fortification: Food fortification involves adding essential nutrients to commonly consumed foods to address micronutrient deficiencies. The government has undertaken efforts to fortify staple foods like wheat flour, rice, salt, and edible oils with vital micronutrients such as iron, iodine, vitamin A, and vitamin D. These efforts aim to enhance the nutritional value of commonly consumed foods and improve the overall health and well-being of the population.
