Diaper rashes are common and despite the extreme care, your little one can suffer from rashes and infections at any time. Many babies suffer from red, painful rash due to the various reasons and it can make them uncomfortable, annoyed or irritated. Bad hygiene, leaving on a wet diaper for a long period of time, using scented allergic wipes- there could be plenty of reasons for those bumpy rashes that can easily take away smiles from the face of your little one.
Here are some easy ways to prevent and manage diaper rashes in toddlers so that your baby’s lower area will remain clean and dry and their lips will never go out of a smile.
- Don’t let the wet diapers on for long hours: Check diapers often and change it as quickly as you can, after it becomes wet. Wet diapers for elongated hours penetrate bacteria inside it and changing them promptly can lower the risk of rashes or bacterial infections. Whenever you change the diaper, make sure to clean or wash the bottom of the baby with warm water. Always remember to clean or wash your hands properly after you change a diaper to ensure better hygiene of you and your baby.
- Let the area free for some time: To minimize the risk of rashes or other infections, it is quite important to not tie any diaper or bottoms to the baby for some time so that the area can regain its moisture and heal completely. You can use powder or loosen the bottoms of the baby so that area remains clean and dry. If your little one is suffering from rashes then removing the diaper and bottoms for some time can help in healing the rashes due to the fresh and cool air.
- Don’t over-tight the diapers: Skin-tight diapers can make your baby uncomfortable as it won’t let the air flow inside it. It can further create soggy and humid surroundings inside the diaper and can lead to redness, rashes and bacterial infections. Not only this, but it can also lead to redness and irritation at the waist or thighs.
- Gently pat the skin dry: Whenever you change a diaper do not rub or wipe the skin with the hard hand. Take a clean cotton towel and gently pat it dry. Scrub the skin with the hard hand can easily disturb the skin while leading to rashes, redness and bumpy bottom.
- Use gentle wipes or cloth: Try to use clean cotton cloth every time you want to wipe out the lower portion of the baby. But if you are using wipes, make sure they are mild and free from hard colognes or liquor. Such products can annoy your baby’s gentle skin and can cause redness and rashes.
