World Cancer Day is observed on 4th of February every year. It is a global uniting initiative led by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) for raising awareness worldwide regarding the improvement in education and catalysing personal, government and collective action. The motive is to reimagine a world where millions of inevitable cancer deaths are given access to life-saving cancer treatment and care equally- no matter where you are and who you are.
World Cancer Day originated in the year 2000 and has grown into a positive movement for people across the country. Every year, hundreds of event and activities take place around the world, gathering organisations, communities, and individuals in businesses , schools, hospitals, marketplaces, community halls, parks, places of worship – online and in the streets – acting as an important reminder that we all have a role to play in minimising the global impact of cancer worldwide.
