Our dietary pattern and lifestyle not only affect our health but it also affects our eyesight. Elongated use of the screen, not wearing sunglasses or anti glares, consumption of a poor diet- a lot of factors can disturb our eyes while blurring our vision with time. Poor eye health can also create eye infections/complications like itching, irritation, redness and watery eyes. Even the slight preventive measures can save your eye from catching various infections while making your eyes shiny, glossy and healthy. Here a guide on how to keep your eyes shiny and healthy, the easy and natural way.
- Eat a nutritious diet: There is nothing better than a healthy and nutritious diet for shiny and glossy eyes. Nuts and seeds, fatty fishes, carrots, spinach and citrus fruits are all good for eye health and adding these foods in your diet can protect your vision as a super nutrient which is known as beta-carotene is found in these foods.
- Quit smoking: When you smoke, cyanide that is present in smoke enters in your blood that can disturb the eye cells and it further makes your eyes weak. Various studies said that the chances of developing cataracts also increase due to smoking. Not only this, but smoking can also create eye problems like dry eyes, increase the risk of macular degeneration and many others.
- Take breaks from the screen: Make sure to take breaks from the screen for about 15-20 minutes after every 2 hours. This way you can ease out the strain that light puts on the eyes. Taking breaks in between cannot only provide you with relaxation but it also de-stress your eyes in no time. You can also wash your eyes or do massage for effective results.
- Adjust the lighting: Adjusting lights of your surroundings while using screens can save your eyes from stain, pain or water. Make sure to make your room bright and lively than your screen in order to keep your eyes and vision both protected and healthy. The chances of various eye infections increase if you keep working under the bad lights.
- Abide by the 20-20-20 rule: This rule says “for every 20 minutes spent looking at a screen, a person should look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds.” Due to the increased usage of screen, our eyes can become dull and the light of the screen can affect our vision but this 20-20-20 rule can easily prevent your eyes from various eye illnesses like eye-watering, blurred vision and redness while strengthening the vision.
