Human body is a network of organs and it is our job to keep them healthy throughout our existence. Our lifestyle has a great impact on our body and it’s us who design our own bodies. Some people stay healthy whereas some individuals prefer pleasure over themselves. It’s really us who can decide what our future will look like. Lifestyle habits can either manifest or destroy the liver. Liver plays major vital roles in our body without which we would not survive.
DROP THESE HABITS
6 lifestyle habits that may degrade our liver include:
- Alcohol: – You abuse your own liver when you start drinking on a regular basis. Liver detoxifies toxins from our body and one of those toxins is alcohol. When you consume alcohol, your liver produces a byproduct known as acetaldehyde which is a highly reactive compound that damages tissues. Over a long period of time, your liver gets converted into fatty liver that creates further complications. Replace your alcohol with non-alcohol beverages and gradually decrease the alcohol intake.
- Tobacco: – No wonder why it says smoking kills on cigarette boxes as smoking is one of the most harmful habits. Not only can it degrade your lungs but it can deteriorate your liver as well. Several studies have proven that smoking aggravates liver damage. When we smoke, our body creates inflammatory substances which are involved in liver cell injury. Smoking suppresses the immune system thus making the liver more susceptible to infections.
- Fast foods: – When we eat excess of junk food, our liver converts it into fat which contributes towards fatty liver. Pizza, burgers, chips, etc. are full of refined sugars that degrade liver condition.
- Lack of physical activity: – Lack of exercise can lead to obesity which leads to fat buildup in the liver. When you exercise, you lose excess weight and increase lean mass which is more active than fat tissue.
- Sodas: – Carbonated sodas are the worst enemies of liver. Sodas are rich in high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) which is nothing but all sugar. Studies have proven that HFCS has detrimental effects on our liver.
- Sedentary lifestyle: – Leading sedentary lifestyle has many complications. When we move very little throughout the day, we put on weight which is a home to many diseases such as obesity. Obesity is a major risk factor for diabetes which could further lead to fat buildup in the liver.
