Food is fuel for the body, a source of energy, something to enjoy and celebrate on special occasions. But foods that often claim to be healthy sometimes can be the opposite.
We tend to buy a lot from outside or even dine out to have only-healthy food, but that can take a toll on our wellbeing.
All foods that are bought in the name of diet-friendly, healthy are not really what they promise.
These Are Some Of The Ways You Have Been Fooling Yourself In The Name Of Good Health:
Are smoothies/juices really a rescue?- The juices that claim to have less sugar, more fiber, even added minerals just have some artificial sweeteners and artificial flavors. They can only harm the body by adding calories and extra sugar.
If you really want to get the fiber, the antioxidants, and just the goodness of fruits, eat them as they are or have them in the form of salads, raitas, & as toppings. Don’t get the juice out of them!
Binging on Health- Whenever we hear about something healthy, we start including it in our breakfast, lunch, mid-meals and dinner. We even promise to swear by it.
Discovering new, healthy food and overeating it is one of the ways to fool yourself.
Yes! Not the body but yourself. That would just bring in a lot more calories and no food is healthy enough to be gorged.
Always picking packets! – In our busy schedules, we often get attracted to packaged foods. Whether it’s the breakfast cereals, peeled, chopped, packaged fruits and vegetables, healthy snack options like makhana or khakhra, packaged foods always contain high amounts of sodium and sugar to increase their shelf life and taste.
Artificial sweeteners and Low Fat- The food that says low-fat are actually filled with sugars and fillers. Artificial sweeteners tend to duplicate sugar in taste and they are said to stimulate taste buds, affect hormones and eventually slow our hormones.
They often claim to be zero calories but bring in a lot of sugar along and can even become addictive. So, instead of working as a healthy option for weight loss, it can have a counter effect and cause different diseases.
Brown breads and peanut butter- People nowadays switch to brown bread thinking that it is a healthier option. But on the contrary, they are just the same as any other bread as they are partially made with refined wheat flour.
Peanut butter not only has protein but a lot of stabilizers, sugars and fat. On top of everything, both brown bread and peanut butter are processed.
Footnote:
One should always check the nutritional content of any processed food that they are buying. Not to forget, healthy things can’t be packed in a bottle with a branded label and a count of calories. Be mindful while choosing what is really healthy and try your best to eat natural and non-packaged foods.
