Dip in Mercury- How To Take Care of Cold Hand & Feet

We, humans, are homeothermic meaning Our bodies are designed to regulate our temperature. When it’s cold outside, your body makes sure to keep the blood flowing to your core and vital organs to keep them warm. This can change the amount of blood flow to your hands and feet, making them feel cold, this is quite common and normal. Usually, this happens when there is a dip in Mercury, a decrease in temperature.

Why does this happen?
When there is a dip in Mercury our body tends to produce heat to keep our vital internal organs warm, our body provides heat by maintaining the bold flow to the organs where heat is required, such as our core. However in this process the amount of blood flow in our superficially placed organs, hands, and feet decreases. Due to this decrease in blood flow, our hands and feet get cold. This is normal and quite common, even in people without any underlying diseases.

How to take care of cold hands and feet.

  • Wear a hat, gloves, warm socks, and a warm coat in cold weather. Wear layers to keep your core warm, and don’t wear tight clothing.

  • Wiggle your toes and make circles with your feet. Make circles in the air with each finger if they’re stiff. Make wide circles in the air with your arms to encourage blood flow.

Under extreme conditions.
If you are one of those people who have some underlying diseases regarding cold or work in a constantly cold environment then you may need to do something other than the above-mentioned tips. Such as:

This will prevent the wax from exchanging the heat with the environment and your hands will reach the normal temperature faster.
  • Keep holding something warm, it’s not possible to make a bonfire every time everywhere, but what you can do is grab a mug of hot water or hot chocolate and just hold it in your hands for some time.

Over to you.
