#Examprep: Healthy Food Choices to Improve Memory

As per research, the food you eat has a great impact on your ability to remember. Your diet plays a vital role in brain health. A healthy diet helps in enhancing your brain functions as it nourishes and protects our heart. It further gives a boost to a good flow to your energy levels. There is an inevitable connection between memory and diet. Today, we bring you some of the healthy food choices that can help you in improving your memory during your exam prep.

Pumpkin seeds

Pumpkin seeds are rich in antioxidants and high in micronutrients such as copper, iron, magnesium, and zinc. These are also rich in tryptophan and Vitamin B. The deficiency of these micronutrients can cause brain function to decline.  Incorporating pumpkin seeds in your diet can help in boosting memory and learning power. You can add these to smoothies, soups, salads, stews or have as it is.

Walnuts

Walnuts are rich in plant-based omega 3 fatty acids that are so effective to boost brain function. It helps in boosting brain power and improving cognitive functions. Infact, if you take a closer look- walnuts look like your brain, doesn’t it? Walnuts also contain calcium, potassium, phosphorus, and magnesium (all these minerals are vital for your brain). Walnuts are crunchy way to add whole lot of nutrition to your brain’s health

Fatty fish

Fatty fish is a type of brain food that includes salmon, trout, and sardines. These  are a rich source for omega-three fatty acids. About 60% of your brain is made of fat and fatty fishes are a healthy way to stock onto healthy fat levels in the brain.  During an exam spree, eating fish seems to have several positive health benefits. This will help in improving your mood, emotions and sharpen memory and keep away depression.

Eggs

Eggs are a good source of vitamin B6, B12, folate, and choline. Take a break and eat eggs, especially egg yolks that are concentrated source of choline. Choline is an important micronutrient that your body uses to create an important neurotransmitter that helps regulate mood and memory. It helps in your brain development and controls all your mood swings. Vitamin B12 regulates sugar levels and synthesizes brain chemicals. It is also essential for development and protection of nerves.
