Festivals come every year and we let ourselves off the hook every year as well. This often results in some unhealthy activities we do in the name of enjoying the festivals. We should enjoy the festivals but there is a way to have fun healthily, that way you don’t have to compromise on the fun that much while simultaneously maintaining your health.
What happens in festivals and 5 tips for celebrating health
The number one thing we do during the festivals is to cease our diet and start munching all the things we shouldn’t be munching. It could be anything, oily fries you promised you would never have, a packet of potato chips you said you would never open, or even that small can of coke you replaced with carrot juice to maintain your health. It has become a necessity to eat junk food during the festivals but that shouldn’t be the case. Instead, you can make all the delicious items at your home without compromising your health or your taste buds. Go to your kitchen, show the efforts by opening that box of spices, and start experimenting.
- Secondly, people have the misconception that just because there is a festival around the corner they can take a break from their daily routine, now generally this is true but only for your work, not your workouts. Keep working out even during the festivals. A couple of hours a day or even just 30 mins a day wouldn’t compromise your desires.
- Thirdly, don’t forget that your break is only till the festival is around. People generally believe that they can take prolonged complete breaks during the festival, and that is okay until and unless you remember to get back on your track as soon as the festival ends. Yes, we all deserve to have fun and take a break, go ahead take a break but remember to end the break at the right time.
- Fourth, it is not necessary to give up the greens to fulfil your desires. Occasionally during the festivals, it is okay to have a little fast food which you’ve been planning to have. However, that can be changed. We all have developed a perspective that green foods are usually yuck and are only meant to be consumed when on a strict diet. This can be changed, open up that box of spices and start experimenting with green foods like beans, spinach, lettuce, etc. Who knows you might hit the flavour your taste buds will never forget and more importantly something your mind will never regret.
- Fifth, last but not the least, it is not necessary to have cold drinks and alcoholic beverages to enjoy your meals. Sure a glass of wine or a glass of coke complements your meal, but that doesn’t mean it’s the only thing that will. Experiment with various herbs, try different types of teas and juices, find what complements your food and your taste buds. Invest some time and put in some effort now to prevent any compromise in the future.
Over to you.
We often tend to let ourselves off the hook and start following an unhealthy plan during the festivals. However, we can change that by following the 5 tips mentioned above to avoid any compromise in your enjoyment and your health.
