Productivity refers to how much work is accomplished in a particular period of time. It not only means workplace productivity but can often be just getting out of bed and getting some tasks done. We talk about work-life balance, boosting productivity can help us achieve a work-life balance more efficiently. Productivity will not only increase our ability to work but also help us manage time.
We often sit in our bed, thinking about the piled-up tasks but fail to deliver our best due to various reasons.

  • Plan Your Day – Wasn’t it easy back in school when we had our timetable and we knew what period it is and what is to be done? Same way we can plan our day the night before. So that when you wake up you have the list of tasks to be accomplished that day. It will surely increase the number of things you get done in a day. This activity will also make a note of the work you have done and the amount of work that is yet to be completed.
  • Small Breaks – Working continuously for hours can make your brain tired and slow. Take some time out, have water, grab a healthy snack, talk to your family or friend. You can take a quick break just to see outside your window. Include some eye exercises to refresh those eyes that have been sitting in front of screens all this time.
  • Increase Movement – Sitting at one place straight for long hours can make your body stiff. After every 2 or 3 hours, take a short walk or stretch your arms and legs. It will refresh your mind, stretch your muscles and keep the blood flowing. It also lifts up your mood when you move away from your workplace and see around. Yoga can also be included in the routine as it will increase flexibility throughout the day, relax your system and help you concentrate more effectively.
  • Small But Fulfilling Meals – Having a heavy meal altogether thinking that you can save on time, can make you feel lethargic and even have digestive problems. Whereas skipping meals while working will leave you with zero energy and less concentration. Fulfilling meals are those that give you satiety, and increase your energy levels. Having smaller meals at regular intervals can help you stay motivated and working.
  • Comfortable Environment – What food is to your soul, a comfortable environment is to your mind! Sitting on a comfortable chair, having your laptop, notebook or whatever you’re going to work on- on a desk, can motivate you to work. You can light soothing candles around, wear comfortable clothes, have pretty plants or decor.
  • No Distractions – It is obvious, with work comes distraction. It is even more difficult when you have a phone and social media around. You can try and set a goal and then give a reward to yourself. Like for every 2 hours of work, you can go through social media for 10 minutes. That way you will be motivated and not be left out from scrolling too.
