But this season also brings skin and hair issues that are difficult to deal with. Due to the high humidity, our tresses become frizzy, dull and lifeless. Monsoon is the perfect time to start pampering your hair and show some extra tender, love, and care (TLC) to your hair rather than just running to a salon every other day. Home-made hair masks are highly potent and serve calming treatments and are an effective way to transfer tons of health benefits in less than 20 minutes. Banana, Almond oil & Argan Oil Hair mask: For beating out the dry, frizzy, brittle, and crunchy hair this mask is considered great and is the permanent solution to these four problems. Being a yummy fruit banana has the properties to smoothen, strengthen and soften out the hair while making it frizz-free. Almond oil (sweet almond oil) contains vitamin E, omega fatty acids, and magnesium which help in treating split ends and assists in stronger hair. Argan oil, which is lighter than some other oils, adds silky shine, smoothness, and good to prevent split ends.
To apply:
- In a bowl mash one ripe banana to make it in a smooth and creamy consistency.
- Then add half a tablespoon of almond and argan oil.
- Mix all the ingredients to form a paste and apply to all your tresses of hair and wear a shower cap. Wait for half an hour and rinse fully. Afterward, shampoo and condition your hair thoroughly.
Ginger Mask and Methi Mask: This mask is essential for significant hair growth as ginger is a great food for our hair follicles and speeds up the growth process of our hair. Methi is enriched with vital nutrients and helps in treating hair fall during monsoon.
To apply:
- Take a bowl and mix a tablespoon of ginger juice with methi paste (by grating the ginger and squeezing out the juice). If you have dry hair you can also mix equal quantities of olive oil and coconut oil in the bowl.
- Use your fingertips gently and apply it on your scalp and hair.
- Leave it for at least thirty minutes and then rinse with a mild shampoo. For best results repeat this mask twice a week.
Honey and Yogurt Mask: This mask proved to be wonderful for dried and damaged hair and is suitable for all hair types. Honey is a humectant that helps with moisture absorption while antioxidants present in olive oil promote new hair growth and a healthier scalp. Also, yoghurt that is rich in protein helps in repairing and strengthening the hair.
To apply:
- Take two tablespoons of yoghurt in a bowl. And one tablespoon of honey and one tablespoon of olive oil in a small saucepan to incorporate. The mixture must not be overheated. Now, pour all the ingredients with yoghurt and mix it properly.
- Apply the mask from the roots till the ends of the hair, and then give a gentle massage to the scalp to improve circulation.
- Rinse after thirty to forty-five minutes.
