But, instead of stressing over things that you can’t fix, try focussing on things that you can- like being physically fit. Quarantine is the best time to take good care of yourself and your body, you can set fitness goals and also achieve them too. Read on to find out a few tips that can help your fitness journey.
Set realistic goals.
When you set short-term goals as per your convenience, staying motivated to achieve them is easy. But, if you set unreal goals for yourself, you might end up not accomplishing them. Hence, if you aim to reduce 2 kgs per month- you have set a realistic target, and to achieve that include cardio, follow a healthy eating regime, drink loads of fluids, and sleep properly. You will start noticing a difference.
Eat healthily.
Eating healthy coupled with your exercise regimen will give you long term results. Include more good fats like nuts and seeds, fibre from fresh fruits and vegetables, good sources of protein like soy and legumes, complex carbohydrates like oats, jowar, ragi, and buckwheat. Avoid refined and starchy products, and cut off on sugar completely. Instead, you can have jaggery, dates, or raisins.
Jumping jacks.
This exercise can do more good than you probably think of. Doing 50 jumping jacks each day can help in weight management, reduce the blood pressure, and bad cholesterol levels while increasing the good cholesterol levels, and insulin sensitivity. It also helps in reducing the belly fat.
Don’t skip breakfast.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, especially when you are trying to lose weight. So, have a hearty, filling, and a complete breakfast. Include a source of protein, fats, antioxidants and fibre. You can have a green smoothie, oatmeal, vegetable poha, boiled eggs, fermented foods like idli and dhokla with veggies, for better fitness and health.
Reduce sodium intake.
Having excessive salt can make you feel bloated, and you definitely do not want that as your important day approaches. But, having adequate amounts of salt is important for better functioning of the body. In fact, for your dinner- try to finish it off before 7 p.m and cut the salt as much as possible, as it retains water in the body leading to early morning ‘fat feeling’.
Sleep well.
Sleeping well is often underrated when it comes to being fit. Not having enough sleep can negatively impact your metabolism and prevent weight loss. Hence, have a sound sleep of 8 hours each day not only to feel rejuvenated but also to aid your fitness regimen.
Over to you.
Preparing for the big day can be particularly hectic. But, there’s no better way than to be mindful, active, and keeping the stress away- to enjoy the bride-to-be time of your life. Include the above tips for keeping yourself fit, other than that, you should also keep yourself hydrated, and have at least 5 servings of different coloured fruits and vegetables. Refrain from caffeine, tea, nicotine, and alcohol to achieve maximum results.
