Summer is the perfect season to get those calm and tranquil vibes but the fear of scorching heat can really knock off some people. Spring is the season where winter is transitioning to summers. With longer days, warmer breeze, flowering plants and trees, and bright sunshine, spring also brings allergies with it.
But all the warm breeze and beautiful flowers are not too pretty for people with spring allergies.
Spring allergies also known as Hay Fever are majorly caused by the pollens which are released by the trees or grass weeds in the spring season. It’s time for trees or grasses to release their pollen and they travel through the air, if they reach someone’s nose and if they are allergic, it can make the immune system go haywire. The immune system will treat them as threats and release antibodies that cause all the very symptoms of this allergy.
Symptoms Of Spring Allergies:
- Runny nose
- Watery, red, and itchy eyes
- Congestion in throat and nose
- Coughing
- Difficulty in breathing
- Itchy mouth and ears
Here’s How You Can Prevent Them:
- Keep doors and windows closed around the season to avoid any of that allergen to get into your house.
- Keep your garden grass short.
- Keep your environment clean, like bedsheets, or pillowcases.
- Wear a dust mask while gardening or stepping out (if necessary).
- Remove shoes and wash clothes, when you come back from outside.
- Avoid drying clothes outside as they might catch pollen dust, instead use machine dryers.
- Vacuum clean floors and objects instead of using a dust cloth.
- The pollen can enter eyes or hair, so wear a hat and sunglasses to limit their entry.
- Maintain personal hygiene and wash your hair regularly to wash off any pollen that’s there.
- Using dehumidifiers or air filters can also help clear out allergens from the surroundings.
- Try building a strong immunity by eating good foods that are rich in vitamins and minerals, drinking enough water, exercising, and getting adequate sleep.
Treatment:
Certain medications can be given to treat the allergy symptoms. But home remedies are also an effective way to give relief.
Home Remedies Include:
- Steam Inhalation- it can soothe the nasal passage and help in breathing better.
- Water Rinse- mix some salt in water and then gargle with it or put it in the nasal passage. It will help fight the bacteria, clear out allergens and extra mucus from the nasal passage.
- Blowing Your Nose- if you feel any irritants in your nose, try blowing the nose to get them out.
- Hydrating- drinking a good number of fluids can help in loosening the mucus present in the nose or nasal passage.
Footnote:
Don’t stress as it can deteriorate the natural defenses of the body. Take good care of yourself and your surroundings to avoid getting allergies frequently.
