COVID-19 has proved to be a deadly virus that is responsible for death in the mass number. A lot of people diagnosed with the virus have also gone through some psychiatric disorder which in itself is an undesirable condition. Due to the widespread virus and pandemic, many countries have faced massive losses. Financially, physically and mentally the virus has shaken the world and that is why it is important to find a cure and a vaccine as soon as possible.
What is a vaccine?
A vaccine is an attenuated bacteria or virus which works against the pathogen. It is a counter to the original pathogen. By giving a shot of such vaccines the body can be ready to fight against the disease-causing pathogen and decrease the chances of any symptoms. We need a vaccine to stop the spreading of the virus once and for all.
The first breakthrough in a possible vaccine against coronavirus Pfizer/BioNtech vaccine.
The big breakthrough came when Pfizer/BioNTech published its first results in November:
- They showed the vaccine is up to 95% effective
- The UK is due to get 40 million doses
- It is given in two doses, three weeks apart
- About 43,000 people have had the vaccine, with no safety concerns
This is a massive hope as a cure and a working vaccine is “the” only exit strategy. The vaccine must be stored at a temperature of around -70C. It will be transported in a special box, packed in dry ice, and installed with GPS trackers.
On 2 December, the UK became the first country in the world to approve the Pfizer/BioNTech coronavirus vaccine for widespread use.
Over to you.
Coronavirus has proved to be a fatal virus that can even cause the most fatal symptom, death. Due to such deadly symptoms, the whole world went under massive stress with a series of lockdowns and quarantines. A vaccine is a counter to the original disease-causing pathogen which makes our body ready to fight whenever the pathogen is identified in our body. Hence the development of vaccines is of prime importance going side by side with the development of a cure. Only after finding a vaccine and a cure can we have a true potential of eradicating the pathogen, in this case, the covid-19 virus. We are aware that the only true exit strategy is to find a cure and a vaccine to the pandemic causing virus. A ray of hope is visible as the UK grants widespread use of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine having strong potential.
