During the monsoon season, the breeding of mosquitoes proliferates which gives rise to cases of dengue fever. It is carried by the vector-like mosquito. Individuals afflicted with dengue fever may suffer from symptoms-like high fever, headaches, fatigue, nausea, and pain behind the eyes. It is necessary to have precautions such as full sleeve garments, mosquito repellent nets, to stop the breeding of mosquitoes. There is a specific treatment for dengue fever, and often affected individuals may require complete rest for a month to recover. For individuals afflicted with dengue fever, here are some ayurvedic tips to promote your recovery –
- Papaya leaf – Not eaten raw often due to its bitter taste, papaya juice is easy for consumption and digestion. It is the most famous remedy for dengue fever. It helps improve the platelet count of the suffering individual. Excess papaya leaves does not cause any problems, and regular consumption boosts recovery. It also helps with dehydration issues.
- Fenugreek – All forms are beneficial, leaves and seeds. Its leaves work as a powerful natural painkiller and can be soaked, and then the strained liquid can be consumed. It is also beneficial for our body as it contains large amounts of iron needed for red blood cell production and platelet production.
- Citrus fruits – Fruits such as lemon and oranges contain good amounts of vitamins and minerals, like Vitamin C, which boosts our body’s immune system. Taken raw is preferred as fiber is present, which will keep the alimentary tract clean.
- Heart-leaved Moonseed – Its common name includes Giloy and Guduchi, which has been used in traditional medicines for centuries in our country. Generally mixed with gooseberry and wheatgrass juice, it helps in improving the body’s immunity, suppresses inflammations, and improves platelet count.
- Neem leaves – Used as traditional medicine since ancient times, it is rich in medicinal properties and immensely helps in stopping the development of dengue fever into severe stages. It also helps improve white blood cell and platelet count. Dried leaves can be used as a natural insect repellent due to their odor.
- Fennel seeds – These are very nutritious and beneficial for recovering patients. It contains many essential nutrients which help prevent further deterioration of dengue fever, antioxidants that will protect cells from virus damage, control your appetite, and has antibacterial properties. It can be mixed in salads or soaked and then strained liquid can be filtered out for consumption.
- Coconut water – This helps in dehydration and also nourishes our body. It can be consumed daily and has no ill effects.
