The season of dryness is here, the lack of humidity and the sudden drop in temperature lead to a lot of damage to the skin and hair. The hair becomes frizzy and unmanageable, the cold doesn’t allow you to step out of the house. This is the time to help strengthen your hair naturally and at the ease of your home. It is not easy to care for your hair in the dry months of winter, yet here are some tips that might help maintain the volume and smoothness of the hair.
During winters, even de-tangling can be a huge task, and doing it more often leads to breakage and major hair fall, reducing the volume of your hair.
– Use lukewarm water for your hair
Rather than using hot water or very cold water, stick to using lukewarm water for your hair. Hot water can damage the hair and strip off the moisture from the hair, leaving it dry and moisture-less. Using lukewarm water can help close the cuticles of the hair strands which in turn helps lock in the moisture of the hair, and acts as a shield for the hair preventing any dirt or pollution particles from entering and protecting the scalp.
High exposure to hot water can make the hair and skin rough, dry, or brittle and can be quite harmful.
– Avoid heat treatment or styling products
Any kind of straightening, blow-drying, or curling should be avoided if you have frizzy hair since it comes at the price of dryness and sucking out all the moisture from the hair making it frizzier and more tangled. Even if you do decide on using such products make sure to use a good heat protectant, and use lower temperatures to keep the locks healthy.
Frequent and prolonged use can be damaging, which is why dry your hair naturally rather than blow-drying
– Hair masks or oiling
Oiling is the traditional way of combating frizz, is to try using oils like castor or coconut, massage it in the scalp, and keep it overnight. Oil helps moisturize and soothe the scalp and hair, increasing blood circulation, and can be an effective cure for dandruff.
Try using DIY hair masks for more moisture. Use ingredients like bananas, avocados, or even eggs. Applying hair masks for 20-30 minutes can also help with the elasticity and smoothening of the hair strands.
– Using a leave-in conditioner
Proper conditioning can help lock moisture in the hair. Applying a leave-in conditioner on wet hair can be very helpful, especially for the entire day.

You can also ensure hair safety by ensuring that you braid your hair when you sleep since using non-satin pillowcases can absorb the moisture of the hair and other tips.
