ICMR Approved a Home-Based Testing Kit For COVID-19

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has given a green go to a home-based testing kit for Covid-19 (Rapid antigen testing) (RAT). As per the ICMR “only symptomatic individuals and immediate contacts of people who tested positive in the laboratory should use the home test kit.” The RAT kit will soon be available in the market and can easily be used at your home to detect the Covid.
Indiscriminate testing is not allowed and people who use this kit and gets covid positive results should follow the same protocols of home isolation. The RAT kit is manufactured by Mylab Discovery Solutions Ltd, Pune.

- Just a nasal swab is required to check yourself for this RAT testing.
- RAT kit comes with a pre-filled extraction tube, a sterile nasal swab, one test card, and a biohazard bag. People who will test themselves with this kit will have to download the Mylab coviself app on their mobile phone. The app is available on both Google play store and Apple store.
- The mobile app will give a comprehensive guide on the procedure involved in the testing and will also give you a positive or negative test result.
- As per a report by Hindustan Times, the price of the test kit will be ₹250.
- The test will take only 2 minutes & the result will be provided within15 minutes. As per the sources, the kit will be in the market by the end of next week.
- Clicking the picture of the test strip after the procedure from the mobile app is extremely vital to get the test results.
- The kit is quite effective and all those people who get positive by using this kit do not require any repeat testing.
