Covid-19 is surely taking over our peace and health. In these testing times, we need to be cautious, follow all the precautions, and stay at home until something unavoidable comes up. If the symptoms are mild, the patient can be home isolated, given the required treatment and care by the family members only. The common symptoms observed are cough, nasal congestion, body ache, mild fever, sore throat. Some symptoms can also be asymptomatic but the loss of smell and taste also is considered to be a major area of concern.
The drugs taken can be checked with the doctor or physician, the patients with comorbidities can continue to take their medications but a general consultation is recommended before opting for any other intervention.
The Ministry of Ayush has laid a few guidelines to help the Covid-19 patients under home isolation.
Here Are The General Guidelines Given By MoA:
1. Patients should follow physical distancing, respiratory and hand hygiene, and wear masks.
2. Steam inhalation and use of warm water at frequent intervals.
3. Avoid the use of cold water and exposure to cold air.
4. Adequate sleep (7-8 hours) should be taken and daytime sleep especially after lunch may be avoided.
5. Fumigation of patient’s room with Sandal (Santalum album) and Kapoor (Cinnamomum camphora).
6. Keep the scalp covered.
7. Avoid physical exertion.
8. Gharghara (gargle) with lukewarm water/ 10-20 gm of the pulp of Khayar shamber (Cassia fistula) boiled in 100 ml of water.
Following Are The Dietary Guidelines Given By MoA:
1. Avoidance from sour diets.
2. Use of Kalonji (Nigella Seeds), Lahsun (Garlic), Adrak (Ginger), Amla (Indian Gooseberry), Haldi (Turmeric) in sufficient quantities.
3. Prefer an easily digestible diet.
4. Oral intake of Maushaeer(Barley water).
5. Take adequate oral fluids like hot soups/ hot tea.
Home isolation can be a lot to take in sometimes, but little meditation and regular exercise can help relieve muscle and joint stiffness. Yoga will also help you recover faster as it boosts immunity and relaxes the mind and body. It is advised to not be too harsh on the body and go slow as the body is recovering itself. Doing something of interest like painting, drawing, and playing indoor games can help you spend the time with ease.
Healthy, fresh, and home-cooked food is the best option to help build immunity and feel good. Including different spices and herbs from Ayurveda will help in restoring the damaged cells and even bringing different flavors to your food.
Footnote:
Take all the precautions while in isolation too, to help control the spread. If the symptoms persist for a longer time or are getting worse, then consult a Covid-19 Management Health Care immediately.
