The pandemic is surely taking over our mental and physical being, whether we are infected or not. Taking good precautions and careful measures are important to stop the spread of the virus.
Restricted movement, life-threatening variants of the virus, and just being confused with all the information out there can make you question what’s right and what’s wrong. To be careful with what you practice, the Ministry of AYUSH has tweeted the general measures of self-care to help you pass the pandemic with ease.
The General Measures Of Self-Care Are:
- Drink lukewarm water frequently.
- Gargling with warm water added with a pinch of turmeric and salt.
- Food should be freshly prepared, and easily digestible.
- Take adequate sleep (7-8 hours), and avoid daytime sleep and relax.
- Daily practice of Yogasana, Pranayama, and Meditation for at least 30 minutes advised by the Ministry of Ayush National Clinical Management Protocol for CVID-19 prophylaxis and as per the protocol by MDNIY.
- Steam inhalation with plain water or fresh Pudina (Mint) leaves or Ajwain (Caraway seeds) or Karpur(Camphor) once a day in case of sore throat.
As we are already aware, both nutrition and exercise play an equal role in maintaining your quality and quantity of life. As mentioned above, lukewarm water really soothes your throat and gives relaxation to the body, plus turmeric and salt help fight bacteria.
Freshly prepared food will keep all the nutrients intact and boost your immunity. With so little movement, the food has to be easily digestible and home-cooked. Fried or processed foods can be avoided.
Sleep helps rejuvenate the cells and the body. It will also make you feel fresh throughout the day. Whereas, daytime sleep can bring lethargy.
In times of pandemic when we are not allowed to leave our homes unnecessarily, it can be difficult to exercise or get in some movement. We can practice Yogasana for better blood circulation and immunity. What exercise is for the body, meditation is for the brain. Sit quietly in a comfortable position and meditate to boost your mental health and bring positivity in these challenging times.
Inhaling steam will help kill the bacteria in your throat, making it easier for you to breathe and not giving any grounds for the bacteria to grow.
With all these measures, it is important to stay at home, wear masks in public and practice social distancing. If you encounter any person with symptoms, get yourself checked immediately.
Footnote:
These measures are easy and self-doable. Practicing them all will make you safer against the virus. Stay safe and healthy!
