Ministry of Health Arranged a Special Health and Wellness Camp for Women at Nirman Bhawan

This statement was given by our Health Minister, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare while inaugurating the “Women for Health and Wellness” special screening and nutrition counselling camp as a part of International Women’s Day Celebrations at Nirman Bhawan, New Delhi on Monday.
To mark International Women’s day, a special ‘Health and Wellness Camp’ has begun from March 1st, 2020 and will last for one week.
The Ministries of Women and Child Development (WCD), Information & Broadcasting and other Ministries of the Government of India like Health &Family Welfare (H&FW), Human Resource Development (HRD), Agriculture & Farmer’s Welfare (A&FW), Rural Development (RD), Housing and Urban Affairs (HUA), Finance, Defence and Home are launching a campaigns to observe International Women’s Day (IWD) 2020 as a run-up to 8 March, celebrated as International Women’s Day all over the world.
The campaigns have a theme for each day which includes health, education, nutrition and empowerment of women, skills & entrepreneurship, special circumstances, participation in sports, rural women and agriculture and urban women.
A special telecast on Doordarshan about healthy recipes in the programme will be done and it will be demonstrated by Chef Sanjeev Kapoor from 1st to 7th March. The show will highlight recipes and nutritious food for pregnant and lactating women. Also, 14 women oriented Bollywood movies will be telecasted on Doordarshan from 1 to 7th March. Some of the films are Raazi, Sarabjeet, Tumhari Sulu and Parineeta.
Addressing the gathering, which largely comprised of women officers, staff members and women relatives of those working in Nirman Bhawan, Dr. Harsh Vardhan stated that instead of dedicating a single day to marking Int’l Women’s Day, the Government, with a sharp focus on enhancing awareness about several women’s issues and provisioning of services, is now celebrating it for a week starting from 1st March.
The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare will organise camps for women on health and wellness and Anemia. Round tables on women empowerment on 7 themes in about 40 central universities around the country is conducted by the MHRD in collaboration with the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Road shows have been planned by MoHUA during this period of Pradhan Mantri Awaa Yojna (PMAY) in Lucknow, Patna and Thiruvanantpuram to educate and inform women on how to benefit from PMAY scheme.
Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani, Union Minister of Women & Child Development said that the vision of our Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modiji is to achieve both economic and social growth through women lead development. This would be the first time in history of India that all the Ministries/Departments are jointly working towards achieving this vision as a part of the Int’l Women’s Day events. She also said the increasing footfall of women in Health & Wellness Centres is a good sign that clears the fact about Ayushman Bharat being a successful model and providing access to the women for getting screened for cervical, breast or oral cancer, along with counselling for various health-related matters.

On 7th March, an event organised by Ministry of Rural Development in New Delhi will be organised where Self Help Groups (SHGs) will be invited to interact and discuss various issues related to SHGs with Ministers and senior officials.
