Mental health refers to how we feel, think and act and the way we handle our stress. It is emotional, behavioral, and psychological well-being. The ability to handle our emotions is necessary to maintain peace in the body and the mind.

Mental health management is important for a healthy lifestyle. It not only helps an individual overcome the stress in life but boosts immunity and makes them a healthier person overall. People often find it difficult to secure their mental health, and increase productivity in other aspects of their life too.

Simple Ways Shared By Ministry Of Health To Promote Mental Health Are:

1- Be Positive & Maintain A Good Work-Life Balance- negative thoughts often make us question our existence, our work, our thoughts, our decisions, and a lot more. Positivity will improve your focus and drag your mind towards more healthy behavior. Being stuck at work and not able to enjoy our life can deteriorate our mental health. The stress from work will bring negativity, so make sure your work and your life are well balanced and not intruding.

2- Practice Yoga & Meditation- yoga increases certain brain chemicals which elevates mood. Meditation calms the brain down which helps us to relax and stop negative thoughts. Practicing yoga for at least 3 minutes will help you loosen the muscles and meditation will let go of any stress you are holding on.

3- Stay Connected & Share Your Feelings- sitting alone makes even the shortest of the thoughts to seem large. Sharing your feelings with other people makes you feel light and the solution also appears faster. Stay connected with friends and family in your down time, avoid sitting alone in a corner, and share your thoughts and feelings with your near and dear ones.

4- Stay Active & Engage In Recreational Activities- physical activity will increase the release of certain hormones which boosts mood and make you feel happy. Whereas being in your comfort zone will accumulate all your stress and ultimately deteriorate your mental health. Recreational activities which can be done in your leisure time, like walking, reading, swimming, playing games or dancing, may help you distract yourself from everyday stress.

5- Stay Away Tobacco, Alcohol And Addictive Substances- people when stressed, often look upto addictive substances like drugs, alcohol and tobacco. These substances can make anyone fall prey to their addiction, and when the needs are not met, it can produce more stress and harm your mental health.

6- Sleep Well- sleep is the time when the body is regenerating its cells and refreshing the mind too. Good sleep will enhance your mental ability and even calm your mind. At least 8 hours of sleep is important for the body to function well.
