Ministry of Health Tweeted Ways to Prevent the Spread of Worm Infections

Worm infection is a contagious disease as it can be transmitted from an infected person to a normal person. It spreads from contaminated water, soil, or food. Poor hygiene and poor sanitation are friends with worm infections. Worm infections can also be transmitted from an infected animal by consuming undercooked meat.
Worms or the infection is transferred from the stools of an infected person which attacks the intestine of a normal person, on the infestation. Symptoms of worm infections include diarrhea, bloating, fatigue, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, unexpected weight loss, and even dysentery in many cases.

- Maintain Hand Hygiene- the only way worms get inside our body is through the mouth, so it is important to maintain hygiene while eating. washing hands before and after your meals can help prevent any germ from going inside your body. Wash hands after using the toilet.
- Use Sanitary Toilets- unhygienic toilets can also spread the infection. Make sure the toilet you use is clean and sanitized, if not you can always use a toilet sanitizer.
- Drink Safe And Clean Water- contaminated water is a source of transferring worm infections as it can carry the infected germs. Always drink safe and clean water and avoid drinking from an unknown source.
- Wash Vegetables/Fruits In Clean Water- washing fruits and vegetables in clean water will remove any germs from them and prevent them from getting inside our bodies. Use clean water for cleaning fruits and vegetables.
- Wash Slipper- slippers come in contact with contaminated soil and spread the infection. The dirt or soil stuck on the slippers may be very unhealthy for you. Whenever you enter the house, always wash your slippers because they can bring contaminated germs.
- Eat Properly Cooked Food- uncooked food can contain infection or germs. Cooking food properly will kill the germs. Uncooked meat can transmit infection from an infected animal, so always wash and cook the meat properly.
