WHO Director Tedros announced that an independent panel will be initiated for Pandemic Preparedness and Response (IPPR) in order to assess global response to the pandemic COVID-19.
As per the director, “in addition to the WHO Member States, the panel will be co-chaired by former Prime Minister of New Zealand Helen Clark and former President of Liberia Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. The whole process and programme will be operating independently. WHO will choose other members for the panel separately. There are no two more strong-minded and independent leaders that can assist us better for this process.”
Tedros further said that self-reflection and assessing the response on the global level is quite important and this is the perfect time to do this. This further helps in looking around judiciously and assists us to toughen our collaboration. We are never alone in this and together we can save lives more efficiently and can easily find ways to control this pandemic.
He further said that there will be a special session of the executive board will be held in the month of September and it will focus on the progress made in the panel discussion. Afterwards, in November, we will present an interim report.
Regular sessions of the executive board will go on in January 2021 and the further discussion will be argued on a regular basis. In May 2021, a substantive report will be published by the panel at the World Health Assembly. As we are all involved in fighting this pandemic, we must also pay heed towards the future outbreaks and challenges that might bring or create destructions on a global level. The pandemic COVID-19 has already made us suffered a lot and changed our whole perspective of living. Now is the time to stop feeling terrible because of this and treat this as an opportunity to prepare for the future and to build our back better, so that we can easily combat such outbreaks.
Evaluating the response is quite important to make ourselves better and to prepare ourselves for the coming future complications in the health sector. With the support of various panel members across the world, we can better assess the response of the pandemic COVID-19 and can work effectively to build our back better for future complications.

Assessing and evaluating the global COVID-19 response is a great way to analyse our current condition and to work on it for future challenges. Precaution is always better than cure and it is important to stay at home to stay safe and happy. Do follow the three basic steps to keep yourself and others safe- social distancing, wear a mask whenever stepping out and wash your hands frequently.
