Breastfeeding gives power to both mother and the child. For the mother, it can help them lose the pregnancy weight faster and even prevent many diseases like cancer and type-2 diabetes. For the child, it provides a line of defence against certain diseases and builds like-long immunity.
As the World Health Organisation says, start breastfeeding within an hour after birth and continue it at least till the baby is 2 years old. It is one of the most effective ways to ensure child health and survival. Breast Milk is the ideal food for infants. It is safe, clean and contains antibodies which help protect against many common childhood illnesses. It provides all the energy and nutrients that the infant needs for the first months of their life, and continues to fulfil half or more of a child’s nutrition needs during the second half of the first years and up to one third during the second year of life.

Five Interesting Facts About Breastfeeding:
1- Your body is ready to feed your baby from the moment they are born. Colostrum, the first milk, is yellow and thick. It doesn’t have much water in it, so your baby only needs a very small amount.
2- During breastfeeding, both you and your baby produce oxytocin, a hormone that lowers stress and anxiety and makes us feel connected.
3- Breastfeeding supports the development of healthy gut bacteria in your baby, setting them up with a healthy immune system for life.
4- Breastfeeding contains antibodies that are tailored to help your baby fight infections circulating in your environment.
5- Babies usually breastfeed very frequently in the first few days. The more often your baby breastfeeds in the early days, the quickers your body will start to make more milk.
Also, breastfeeding can help the mother and baby bond really well and it can be fed anytime-anywhere. Storing up the milk will cause the mother to develop breast cancer and many more infections. Breastfeeding is safe and healthy.
