Almost 75,000 deaths from Covid-19 were reported to The World Health Organisation, in the last week alone. According to the WHO technical lead, the virus is evolving and Omicron alone has several sub-lineages that they are still tracking. Like BA. 1 .1, BA.2, and BA.3, the latest variant of concern has taken over Delta around the world. Omicron is more transmissible than Delta and BA.2 is more transmissible than BA.1. After this big wave of BA.1, we can even see the BA.2 wave. And everyone is concerned that if we do not try to control it now, it might even spread.
Here Are Some Ways WHO Tweeted About To Protect Yourself And Your Loved Ones From Covid-19 And Its Variant:
- Get Vaccinated- through vaccination, we can stop the future severe spread of the virus and its variants. Vaccination drives are run all over the world and you must get both your vaccine doses to stay fighting against the virus.
- Wear A Mask- wearing a mask is important as the mouth is the only passage for the germs to enter the body. wearing a well-fitted mask will help you stop the spread of the infected droplets from an infected person to a healthy person. You must cover your nose and mouth properly.
- Keep Physical Distance- maintain enough distance to stop the infection from spreading. Avoid going to crowded places and if you happen to be in one, maintain a physical distance of at least 1 meter.
- Open Windows- ventilation is important for air circulation as it will help the infected air to move out and fresh air to enter the space. Open windows after every 1 hour to let in some fresh air and improve the ventilation in your space.
- Cover Your Cough/Sneeze- coughs and sneezes often spread the infection from an infected person to a healthy person through the air. Always cover your coughs and sneezes with a bent elbow or handkerchief.
- Clean Your Hands- clean your hands will destroy the germs and stop from spreading them. Clean your hands regularly like before and after touching your mask, after returning home, and before touching any unknown object.
Over To You:
Omicron is not mild, it is less severe than delta, we are already seeing a significant number of deaths, significant numbers of hospitalization. It is not the common cold, not even influenza, and we must be really careful right now in taking all the precautions and preventive measures.
