We come across many people who suffer from the problem of accepting themselves. People live in depression of facing the outer world because they are more than ashamed of their body type. Your weight doesn’t decide how beautiful you are as a person and people in today’s world don’t understand that.
A person is considered beautiful from the heart and it is really important to have a pure heart with pure intentions and then you can consider yourself beautiful. Physical appearance doesn’t depict one’s intentions or who or she is as a person. In the course of proving themselves beautiful, people end up having depression which leads to many eating disorders regarding weight loss/gain.
A person should know his/her worth and should learn a lesson that beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. Being fat/thin does not mean you are not beautiful and working on making you better is the best you can do. Eating disorders are a range of psychological conditions that cause unhealthy eating habits to develop. They might start with an obsession with food, body weight, or body shape. Listing down some eating disorders that people go through:
Anorexia nervosa: This is one of the very common disorders found in many people. People with anorexia generally view themselves as overweight even if they are underweight. They have this mindset of being overweight and due to which they constantly try and cut down their food intake and restrict their calories. People go through the fear of gaining weight despite being underweight. Their self-esteem is linked to their body image, and this distorted body image causes very low self-esteem.
Bulimia nervosa: Bulimia is a serious, potentially life-threatening disorder, in which people tend to catch themselves in episodes of binge-eating. In these binge-eating episodes, people think that they can’t stop eating or control how much they eat. Many people with bulimia also restrict their eating during the day, which often leads to more binge eating and purging. People going through bulimia tend to eat a large amount of food in a short span and to shed the calories, they choose an unhealthy way which is a life threat like force vomiting, too much exercise, laxating.
Binge-eating disorder: In this type of disorder, people find themselves in a situation where they have no control over how much they are eating and they tend to eat quickly and in larger amounts, even if they are not hungry till the time they are uncomfortably full. After the binge eating scene, people might feel guilty and ashamed about it but to compensate for the mistake they rather end up eating more than shedding calories as done in anorexia and bulimia disorder. Embarrassment can lead to eating alone to hide the bingeing.
