Summers bring a variety of fruits with itself and add a rainbow of colors to our green groceries. Melon, mango, watermelon, lemon are a few examples with other huge stock of other tasty fruits. Mouth-watering custards to hydrating juices and delicious smoothies to lip-smacking popsicles are all the worthy beverages you can give a try to if you are a ‘fruit fan’.
Store-bought or processed popsicles contain artificial flavors and tons of sugar which is not going to escape soon from that belly of yours. Involve your kids and experiment in the kitchen by letting them choose the fruit, shape/size of the molds.
Popsicles give you a refreshing treat to beat the heat and what better than a combination of a bunch of your favourite fruits:
- Berry in the Peach popsicle
Blend 4-5 blackberries (jamun) with one teaspoon honey then set aside. Clean blender, puree sliced peaches and set aside. Layer the popsicles as stated: 2 teaspoons strawberry puree, 1 teaspoon yogurt, 2 teaspoons peach puree and repeat. Make sure for the last layer to be of fruit puree. Lightly tap the mold on the counter to make sure all of the layers settle. Use a small teaspoon to drag vertically from the bottom to the top of the mold a few times to create a swirled pattern. To remove any air bubbles, gently tap the molds on the countertop. Gently insert the popsicle sticks, and then freeze for at least 6 hours, or overnight.
- Luscious Melony Mint popsicle
Blend 1 small-sized bowl of diced watermelon pieces, few mint leaves, half a glass of coconut water, and few drops of lime juice, and a spoon of honey. Stir the popsicle mixture then evenly divide it among the popsicle molds. Gently tap to settle the liquid mixture. Slowly, insert the popsicle sticks, if it does not stay in place, try using a piece of tape to hold them into place. Freeze for at least 6 hours, or overnight.
- Tangy Mango popsicle
Blend half a diced mango, 1 glass of coconut milk, few teaspoons of orange juice, and a teaspoon of honey. Evenly divide among the popsicle molds, gently tap the mold on the counter. Gently insert the popsicle sticks and then freeze for at least 6 hours, or overnight.
How to remove from molds: Run the molds under tap water for ten to fifteen seconds. Be careful with each popsicle while you remove and if the popsicles still remain in the mold, run them under the warm water for a few more seconds, ensuring not to melt the pops.
