Taking care of what you eat and drink during this season is the key to boost your immunity and to lower down the risk of various foodborne diseases.
Here are some easy ways to avoid food poisoning during monsoons.
- Store the food properly: Your food will turn stale if you don’t store your food properly during this season. Proper storage of the foods keeps them in fine fettle which further decreases the risk of various diseases. Make sure to store your food at the right temperature and refrigerate the cooked food as soon as possible to prevent it from getting infectious. Consuming stale food is quite harmful to your health and can increase the risk of various health ailments. Try not to store the leftovers for a long time and keep it covered while storing.
- Avoid consuming raw food: Raw foods and vegetables generally contain harmful bacteria in this season and consuming raw foods can make your stomach upset while increasing the risk of food poisoning. Make sure to eat properly cooked and fresh foods to avoid food poisoning. Wash everything properly you buy from the market before cooking. Also, make sure to wash cauliflower, spinach, and broccoli with salt water to remove the harmful bacteria from it.
- Make sure to eat from a hygienic place: Whatever you consume during this season, make sure that it is properly cooked and comes from a hygienic place. Street foods, processed and packaged foods are all unhygienic and can easily make you suffer from food poisoning. Street foods involve open cooking that entices various types of bacteria. Try to eat home-made food and do wash your hands before cooking and eating.
- Say no to pre-cut fruits: Always take care of the time you cut your fruits and the time you are consuming it. The more time you let the cut fruits open, the more the risk of contamination increases. Don’t rely on store-bought smoothies or fruit juices as these are not safe and fresh and can increase the chances of food poisoning and other health ailments.
- Add fresh and organic ingredients and food staples: Relying on fresh vegetables and organic ingredients not make the food delicious but it is extremely nutritious and can never harm your health.
