Organic food is food produced by methods complying with the standards of organic farming. Standards vary worldwide, but organic farming features practices that cycle resources, promote ecological balance, and conserve biodiversity. Organic food is the output of organic farming and thus investing in organic foods in a way that promotes a healthy environment. Some people and studies indicate that organic foods are safer, possibly more nutritious, and often better tasting than non-organic food. They also say organic production is better for the environment and kinder to animals. But amidst all this the question still prevails, is it good for you? Let’s find out the answer to this question today in this article.
Organic food and you. Yay or nay?
More and more shoppers seem convinced about the benefits and scope of organic foods. Even though organic food typically costs more (sometimes a lot more) sales are steadily increasing. However, there’s very limited information in people on actual health outcomes with consumption of these products and thus a proper estimate cannot be made about the health advantages of organic foods.
Organic crops must be produced without conventional pesticides (including herbicides), synthetic fertilizers, sewage sludge, bioengineering, or ionizing radiation. Organically raised animals must be given organic feed and kept free of growth hormones and antibiotics. Organic farm animals must have access to the outdoors, including pastureland for grazing. No use of pesticides may also mean that the crops are more prone to get infected by bacteria and other viruses which may be more harmful.
Thus because of all these factors when we look at Organic foods from a perspective that prioritizes pesticide consumption then the evidence speaks for itself. Since no artificial pesticides are used voluntarily the intake of such chemicals falls drastically thus being safer. However, because of no artificial means used some crops may lack natural nutritional value which is otherwise met in conventional foods because of fortification of such nutrients.
Over to you.
In the end, it all comes down to priority. Options and choices for a safer her nutritional rich food are very limited thus a priority is required to determine whether organic foods are better for you or not. In any case, we recommend you try all the options with proper research and come to a conclusion by yourself so that you can understand what your body needs more. Organic and conventional foods both have their pros and cons and thus depending on what suits your body the best, you should make the decision. Stay healthy, stay safe.
